Is self-love the reason why we are here?

I just want to begin by stating that anything I write here is no way shape or form claiming to be the truth or the absolute truth. It is however my own personal truth that I would like to share with you all.

As many of you may have noticed the world is a pretty crazy and often confusing place. With so much information everywhere it is hard to know what is and what is not real. For example there are many different theories about human origin and most of them often contradict each other. Science and religion seem to be the two main branches of explanation for the universe but in my opinion they are both extremely flawed.

Lets take Christianity for example, we are told there was nothing, and then there was something.

‘In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth.’

It doesn’t really explain who god is or how and why god created everything so suddenly.

The leading theory in science is the big bang theory. In simplest terms it talks about the universe as we know it starting with a small singularity, then inflating over the next 13.8 billion years to the cosmos that we know today.

So basically there was nothing and then there was something.

Before I continue I want you all to know that I have huge respect for science and every bit of positive technology that has stemmed from hard workingmen and women. I also have great respect for all religions that teach love and union as their core principles.

These days with all the confusion going around and heated debates with over how we came to be I’m actually more drawn to theories such as extra terrestrial manipulation of our species or Terence Mkennas ‘Stoned ape theory’. At the end of the day most of these theories are so far out anyway or so lacking in explanation it feels as though I may as well just pick whatever sounds the most interesting :P.

Ok so why does any of this even matter? Well now that we have the ‘how’ out of the way what I have become a lot more focused on and interested on is the ‘why’.

As mentioned at the beginning of this article I can only speak from my own experience but maybe this will resonate with you too.

I believe we are here to experience and learn love. More importantly I feel we are here to learn self-love.

From all the people I have met so far in my life the very select few who seem to have it all together and are successful are those who have mastered this trait.

It is important not to get self-love and vanity confused here too. Vanity is having too much pride in ones self-appearance where as self love is having regard for one’s own well-being and happiness.

From my own observations when we are unhappy it is usually due to a lack of self love. Now this is when the first part of the articles begins to make sense. It seems that there is nothing in this dimension, earth, the universe or whatever you want to call it is important as mastering the art of self-love.

I think this whole existence is a training ground or living library to learn this core value. This makes more sense when we look at relationships. Every relationship that comes into your being is at the root teaching you self-love.

There are two very common roles in relationships that take place. They are the giver and the receiver. The first role is the receiver and is the more obvious one. This takes place when the person has such little self love for them self that they are very venerable and sensitive. They usually find a giver that will make up for their lack of self love and try to receive as much attention as possible to compensate for their lack of not being able to be alone or in their own company.

Receivers attract givers because givers go out of their way to put other people first. They also lack self-love because they distract themselves and feed off making other people happy. It is very rewarding to the giver to make the receiver feel loved and wanted but this usually comes as a sacrifice to the givers own well being and happiness.

This is also what is known as a karmic relationship. It is what happens when two entities come together to learn spiritual lessons together. They attract each other on a karmic level because their frequencies match.

Above is just one example of how life teaches us lessons such as self-love via relationships. Other examples include having poor relations with ones parents or friends, the loss of a beloved pet, being bullied in school or having friends turn on you. Ultimately self-love is the realization that you only truly have yourself and the more comfortable you are with yourself and who you are the less reliant you will be on others.

Ironically the more self-love we have for ourselves the less we need to depend on others however what happens is that the more self-love we have the higher the quality of relationships we will attract into our lives.

I hope you have enjoyed reading this article as much as I have enjoyed writing it. In all honesty it has been a while since I have written anything at all and I think this is a lesson in self-love also.

I write with love to all who are reading with the realisation that there is no other and we are all one.

I write this article for myself. I look forward to reading anything you have to say in the comments and feel free to reach out to me via the to higher consciousness contact button.
